The Waste Act was revised in summer 2021. As a result of the legislative change, Oy Botniarosk Ab has been responsible, as of 1 January 2024, for the separate collection of plastic, cardboard, glass, and metal packaging, as well as small metal items.
The collection of packaging waste means that residential buildings in urban areas with five or more dwellings must separately collect plastic, cardboard, glass, and metal packaging, as well as small metal items.
The obligations regarding the collection of packaging waste entered into force on 1 July 2023. In Botniarosk’s service area, collection began on 1 April 2024.
